Originally built in the 1960′s, the house had the elements of a pleasant mid-century modern house but the floor plan was awkward and dated. The owners bought the house for it’s timeless modern sense, and hired Caroline Dooley so it would bloom into their vision of a warm, elegant, flowing house. The resulting home has a clarity and effortlessness; it transcends the hands, heads and hearts that worked together on it.

The resulting design won San Diego Home and Garden Magazine’s “Best Remodel of the Year” Award.  The light filled home accentuates a mahogany window wall, indoor-outdoor planters and redwood living room ceiling that extends to outside eaves. Both blur the line between indoor and outdoor space. Nana and Metal Window Corp. doors and windows, and Bultaup kitchen. This home is a jewel, beautifully constructed in a wonderful collaboration between owner, architect, interior designer and contractor.

We would not consider using any other architect on any project we undertake. Caroline has designed two projects with us, a teardown remodel of our house in Oceanside and a hacienda compound in New Mexico.  Caroline’s talents are not isolated to one particular style, but rather are completely applicable to any type of design.  She is prompt, and very attentive to our wishes and input. Caroline interfaces very well with builders, making it seamless for the owner.
